BLURB: Do a stellar academic background, a well-paying job with ample recognition, and a loving life partner imply happiness?

Sonia is an ambitious woman working in the country’s most prominent media company. Sameep, her husband, has loved her ever since their IIM-Ahmedabad days. Her direct report, Mehul, idolises her and her boss, Rishabh, acknowledges her intellectual prowess. But Sonia’s past interferes with the present, making her life-and the lives of those around her- lack balance. Time flies fast but leaves shadows behind.

A Price to Love is a contemporary tale showcasing the struggles of making a thriving personal life and a successful career tango in the highly competitive corporate arena… especially if you are a woman.

Sonia is a successful businesswoman working in one of India’s leading media company. She is married to the love of her life, Sameep who sticks with her through their thick and thin since their IIM-Ahmedabad days. She is admired by her juniors and her boss, Rishabh. And her colleagues are both envious and longing for Sonia’s lifestyle. But her past is still behind her and taunts her all the while. Her past creates a chaos and leads to a disastrous work life balance for her and those around her as well.

PROS: The book explores the concept of work- life balance and how the mental toll of having to balance the burden rests on the women.

The language was very fluid and easy to read.

The book was fast paced and I was able to finish it in a day. It works as a binge holiday read.

The cover of the book is lovely.

I liked a few characters like Sameep and Mehul and how the emotions and insecurities of men were portrayed aptly by the author.

The attempt to include mental health wellness was very thoughtful.

CONS: I feel the subject of dependent personality disorder was not explored completely as it is a way more severe problem than what the main lead had to go through.

I couldn’t connect to the main lead character as she was less likeable than the other characters in the book.

I wish the subject of infidelity was dealt in a better way as I personally didn’t find it either empowering or justifiable.

I felt that a lot of background plots were inspired and was common to many romance books and it felt quite repetitive.
