Three commandos of the Indian army under Colonel Mohan, who are a part of unit Kilo operation - Major Ahmed, Captain Shamsheer Sulaiman and Lieutenant Rafiq Mehmood are chosen for a one-of-a-kind mission. They must enter Pakistan and take down the most dreaded underworld don, Irshad Dilawar. But Dilawar is always one step ahead of them, foiling every plan they make. Also, they are not the only ones that want Irshad Dilawar dead.
Major Imtiaz realises that the mission is compromised in no time. Will he be able to complete the task successfully, or will they fall into Dilawar's trap?
The Karachi Deception is an international espionage story covering the events of the mission simultaneously in India and Pakistan. The author has treated all his characters equally well, and the action and the ending scenes were good. Though the story is immersive and intriguing, it is slow in places that might take away the reader's attention momentarily.
I feel this spy thriller is based on a very predictable plot but is very well-researched and heavily augmented with significant details. The language is coherent and easy to follow, but some crucial conversations were all in Hindi without any translation to the context. So, readers who don't know the language might have to depend on google to stay on track.
Go for it if you are up for some action thriller and spy drama.
MY REVIEW: 3/5

This tendency to keep much of the original language untranslated is increasing. It's quite offputting.
ReplyDeleteYeah. Its like a double edged sword. Gives creative freedom to author but makes it difficult for the readers.
