Another doctor-turned-author writing medical fiction is a simple enough reason for me to pick this book up. This book is based on real-life incidents documented in the form of fiction.

Ambika has been facing prejudice since childhood because of caste differences but still grew up brave and strong. She is a nurse by day and a memer by night, and e finds happiness in small things. She meets Amar, who falls for her at first sight and persuades their parents to their marriage. But life isn't all a fairy tale ending for Ambika. Life after marriage puts her through a test, and with a rare medical diagnosis, her world changes overnight. She begins a journey of self-discovery which could change the lives of others too, for good.

This book deals with a powerful feministic story from the beginning to the end. From caste issues to gender bias to the scrutinisation of married women to infertility, this book has explored it all. The message was conveyed with wit and sarcasm, and Ambika's one-liners were definitely amusing. Though the ending looked humanly impossible, it did justice to the build-up in the previous chapters. Talking about a rare medical disorder is a commendable feat of this book, and I loved how much awareness about breastfeeding has been imparted through this book.

The only problem I faced with this book was that it required a lot of  Hindi knowledge to understand it completely. Besides a few medical plot holes, Ambika's character was also flawed at places. Why would anyone as strong and sensible as Ambika marry her stalker? Being a healthcare worker herself, it surprised me how little she was aware of her condition. Probably she would be the only staff patient who isn't apprehensive and over-conscious.

With all its strengths and flaws, it is a must-read for all.
