BOOK REVIEW
Ever wondered what life would be like in the dark vastness above? Have you ever thought about how seeing things from the outside can be amusing and intimidating at the same time? How often do we talk of people who live in outer space for the greater good? Or how often do we even realise that earth is a special minuscule that craves to be protected?
This book is about the routine of six cosmonauts and astronauts stuck together for months for work in space. Each person is a kind of their own who views the Earth from a different perspective according to their personal lives and background. The book isn't sci-fi in real terms. I would call it artistic or mainstream fiction, which is just set in space, or maybe eco-fiction because I see the book trying to point at that. There isn't a particular storyline, and nothing drastic happens in the book. It’s just about their mundaneness and their perspective of earth from a place far above.
As a child, I was always intrigued by space, its vastness, and celestial objects. Who wouldn’t be? I was intrigued by this book the same way and was expecting a lot. Do I enjoy reading it? Yes, absolutely. But did it wow or move me? Definitely, no. The language was absolutely beautiful, and I wanted to keep reading it. But that’s about it. I was really amazed reading about the terrain, hurricanes, and rivulets for the first time. But the second time, third time and then the fourth time… I was already tired of it. And whenever someone’s background was explained, I thought the story would progress with that as the concept, but sadly, it did not, and they were just random points. It was a good read and brought me a lot of peace and insights.
MY REVIEW: 3.5/5
