TWO ILLUSTRATED CHILDREN’S BOOK EVERYONE MUST READ
I read not one, but two children’s book after a long, long while because why should only kids have all the fun? I am sharing with you the review of both these books so you can do the same, too.
1. BOOK ONE: THE INVENTION OF SHOE BY RABINDRANATH TAGORE - RETOLD FROM THE BENGALI BY NIRMAL KANTI BHATTACHARJEE, VISUALISED AND ILLUSTRATED BY SEKHAR MUKHERJEE
This is a colourful, illustrated book on a king who demands that his people find a way to keep his feet free from dirt. People rummage through the options from carpeting the land he steps on to covering the entire earth with leather. But nothing seems plausible until one intelligent man steps in to find a solution that is simple and reasonable. Sounds pretty interesting right? That’s what I thought too.
I read it aloud with my nephew and he was bewitched by the beautiful illustrations and I had to start over plenty of times because he did not want this book to end. It works wonderfully to get your little ones into the habit of reading. Quite short, insightful and comes with a lot of colours and great vocabulary too. My nephew loves this book and that’s a recommendation enough for any book.

2. BOOK TWO: THE GIFT BY RAMENDRA KUMAR, ILLUSTRATED BY GAURI SHILENDRAN
The Gift is the story of a selfless doctor, Dr. Aquinas who works in a far-off village. She goes out of her way to treat a sick Bullu who is saved by her kindness and dedication. And that's how Dr. Aquinas Edessary touched many lives and this book was a heartfelt dedication to her selfless work.
This is another beautifully illustrated book that I enjoyed reading with my nephew. I even gifted him my copy, as he simply wouldn't let it go. The colourful illustrations are stunning and captivating, keeping the readers engaged throughout. The story itself is simple, touching, and sublime. Books like this remind us of the lives of such great individuals and their tireless service to society.
Though this is a children’s book, it is equally good for adults. I’m sure many of us may not have heard of this remarkable personality before. And that's why you must read this one next.
